The Patna leg of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 6 started with Inter-Zone Challenge action and moved to Zonal action midway through. A number of close encounters were played in this leg with many games that could have gone either way till the end. Here is a look at some of the highlights from the leg:

1: Pardeep Narwal becomes second to 700

Rahul Chaudhari and Pardeep Narwal have by far been the leading raiders of VIVO Pro Kabaddi so far, outscoring the competition by almost a hundred raid points. While Chaudhari reached 700 raid points in the previous leg, Narwal joined in on the record in his home leg. However, averaging 10 raid points a game as opposed to Chaudhari’s 8.44, it took Narwal just 70 matches to reach the mark. He got there in the first raid of Match 38 against Haryana Steelers. He is currently the top raider of the league with 720 raid points to his name.

2: Four Super 10s highlight Dabang Delhi K.C. and U.P. Yoddha game

A Super 10 is a big achievement for any raider and many times is enough to help his team get the advantage in the game. However, in Dabang Delhi K.C.’s match against U.P. Yoddha, as many as four Super 10s were scored to ensure a close finish. Shrikant Jadhav started things off by reaching a Super 10 in the 18th minute before Naveen Kumar joined him in the second half. The duo was later joined by U.P. Yoddha’s stand-in captain Prashanth Kumar Rai in the 12th minute of the second half before a final Super 10 by Chandran Ranjit with just 3 minutes left on the clock made it the first time this season that four Super 10s were scored in a game.

3: Nitin Tomar reaches a raid point century

The current leading raid-point-scorer of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 6, Nitin Tomar, became the first player to cross the 100 raid point mark this season in his 6-point effort against Gujarat Fortunegiants. Coming into the match needing 6 raid points to reach the mark, Tomar managed to pick up exactly those many on his way to become his team’s best raider in the game. Against a stellar Gujarat Fortunegiants defence, Tomar was made to wait till the 13th minute of the second half to reach the mark with a successful touch point, before being substituted in favour of Amit Kumar.

4: Pawan Kumar Sehrawat’s purple patch

Pawan Kumar Sehrawat’s form has been a revelation for Bengaluru Bulls in Season 6, and one of the main reasons they have managed to win four of their five games so far. He currently averages 14.8 raid points per game this season and, in the game against Patna Pirates, he scored his fourth Super 10 in five games to take his team to victory. What was even more impressive was that the raider took just 9 successful raids to reach 14 points, which included two Super Raids that broke the back of the Patna Pirates defence. The highlight of the raider’s match came in the second half, when he executed a perfect Frog Jump that saw him clear the ground by almost six feet and easily escape the incoming defender.

5: Vishal Bhardwaj displays defensive mastery

The Telugu Titans defence has been one of the major talking points of Season 6. While Abozar Mohajermighani showed his class by completing a hat-trick of High 5s in the previous leg, in Patna, it was the other Corner, Vishal Bhardwaj’s time to turn on the heat. He scored 9 tackle points against Patna Pirates in Match 40, which included 2 Super Tackles. The most important thing for his team was that he managed to keep Dubki King Pardeep Narwal down to just 4 points, enjoying an astonishing Tackle strike rate of 150 against him in the match.
