The Pune leg of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 6 marked the beginning of the Inter-Zone Challenge Week as teams from Zone A and Zone B locked horns and served up some memorable moments along the way. Here are five handpicked moments of the leg –

1. Rahul Chaudhari creates history

With his seventh raid point of the match, a touch point on U Mumba defender Surender Singh, Telugu Titans ace Rahul Chaudhari became the first man to reach 700 raid points in VIVO Pro Kabaddi. It took him just 84 matches to reach the mark and he did it at an outstanding average of 8.33 raid points per match. The raider currently sits on 746 totals points and is also set to become the first man to reach 750 points in the league.

2. Siddharth Desai delivers yet again for U Mumba

Siddharth Desai’s unbelievable story had another astonishing chapter as the rookie scored 17 raid points in his team’s win over Telugu Titans. What is more impressive is the fact that in his 19 raid attempts, Desai was tackled only once by Telugu Titans’ defence, showing that he doesn’t only know how to score the points but also has the ability to starve the opposition defence.

3. Ajay Thakur’s terrific performance against Puneri Paltan

Coming into the match against Puneri Paltan, Tamil Thalaivas had won only one of their six matches and were in need of a big performance to gain some momentum heading into the rest of the campaign. Cometh the hour, cometh the man, as captain Ajay Thakur delivered a big performance scoring 12 raid points to lead his team to a much-needed win over Puneri Paltan. With his third raid point of the match, the raider also etched his name in history as he became only the third man to reach 600 raid points in VIVO Pro Kabaddi.

4. Puneri Paltan’s Six Super Tackles against Jaipur Pink Panthers

When down to three or fewer men on the mat, most teams would find themselves at a disadvantage and in position to concede an All-Out; but not the Puneri Paltan as they showed in their match against Jaipur Pink Panthers. The team managed as many as six Super Tackles, cutting down any lead that Jaipur Pink Panthers tried to build and those six extra points from Super Tackles proved to be crucial in their narrow four-point win over Jaipur Pink Panthers. Ravi Kumar led the way with two Super Tackles, whereas Monu, Sandeep Narwal, Rinku Narwal and Deepak Kumar Dahiya managed one each in Puneri Paltan’s dazzling defensive performance.

5. Abozar Mighani’s hat-trick of High 5s

It takes a monumental effort in defence to stop the force that is Pardeep Narwal, but Abozar Mighani proved he had what it takes, leading to his team’s win over Patna Pirates. The Right Corner managed four huge tackles including a Super Tackle to complete his third straight High 5, becoming one of only two men with more than two High 5s this season, the other being Puneri Paltan captain Girish Maruti Ernak. The Iranian’s ability to pull off solo tackles have made him one the most feared Corners in the game and he has stayed true to his reputation with his performances in Season 6.
