After all it is the defence that lays down a proper foundation for a team to achieve success. Raiders in Pro Kabaddi can win you games single-handedly every now and then but a strong defence that performs consistently is what ultimately propels a team to a title triumph. Here we take a look at the top defenders of Pro Kabaddi League Season 10.

Mohammadreza Chiyaneh - Puneri Paltan

Iranian all-round sensation Mohammadreza Chiyaneh finished as the top defender in Pro Kabaddi League Season 10. A formidable presence in defence for Puneri Paltan, Mohammadreza Chiyaneh was key to his team’s title-winning run in Season 10. Apart from also contributing 27 raid points in Season 10, Chiyaneh amassed 99 tackle points in PKL 10 - the second most a player has managed over the course of a single campaign. The Defender of the Season in PKL 10, Chiyaneh also notched up two Super Tackles and 11 High 5s.

Krishan - Patna Pirates

After two seasons with Dabang Delhi K.C., defender Krishan had a breakthrough campaign with Patna Pirates in Season 10. He finished the campaign as the second-highest tackle point scorer in PKL 10 with 78 tackle points and played a key role in the three-time champions’ run to the semi-finals. A robust tackler on the mat, Krishan finished the season with five Super Tackles and six High 5s. 

Yogesh - Dabang Delhi K.C.

Another breakout talent in Season 10, Dabang Delhi K.C.’s Yogesh enjoyed a spectacular campaign from a personal perspective in what was his debut PKL season. He was the leading tackle point scorer for Dabang Delhi K.C. and scored 74 tackle points with a 54 per cent tackle success rate. Adjudged the New Young Player of the Season 10, Yogesh finished the campaign with six Super Tackles and five High 5s.

Rahul Sethpal - Haryana Steelers

Part of a formidable defensive unit with Haryana Steelers, Rahul Sethpal was the leading defender for the team with 73 tackle points. He had a tackle success rate of 54 per cent and was a crucial component in the Steelers’ runners-up finish in Season 10. A hard-tackling defender, no other player managed more than Rahul Sethpal’s 15 Super Tackles in PKL 10. He also managed seven High 5s and chipped in with three raid points in attack. 

Ankush - Jaipur Pink Panthers

After a fine debut campaign in Season 9 that saw him register 89 tackle points to finish as the Defender of the Season, Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Ankush played a starring role for the two-time PKL champions in the landmark 10th season. He finished Season 10 with 70 tackle points and a 52 per cent tackle success rate. The top performing defender for Jaipur Pink Panthers in Season 10, Ankush recorded seven Super Tackles and eight High 5s.
