Patna Pirates returned to winning ways with a 35-24 win over Tamil Thalaivas at the Dome@NSCI SVP Stadium on Saturday. The Pirates needed a response heading into the match having squandered a massive lead in the final minutes of their previous match against Bengal Warriors on Friday.

Chennai did a good job of keeping a lid on Dubki King Pardeep Narwal, however, it was Monu Goyat who took the game away from the southerners. Goyat shouldered bulk of the blame for his team’s draw against Bengal after being tackled in Patna’s last raid of the match. This time though Goyat had a reversal in fortunes as he emerged as his team’s hero with a game-high 11 raid points.

The 24-year-old proved difficult to contain with all 11 of his points being touch points. What’s more is that his showing demonstrated how Patna aren’t a one-man team heavily reliant on Pardeep. Another positive takeaway from his performance was his composure in do-or-die raids, which has already brought his team back from the brink of an All-Out on multiple occasions this season.
