Mashal Sports and Star Sports’ combined endeavors in giving the indigenous sport of kabaddi a global reach have not only caught the attention of the viewers, but also given the country some top athletes.

Through the last 7 seasons, we have seen numerous jaw-dropping Jumps, Dives, and Holds. The success story of vivo Pro Kabaddi and its athletes can hardly be captured in these numbers. But here are some special stats to put into perspective the genius the league has seen.

In the initial four seasons, eight franchises battled it out for the much-coveted PKL trophy. In May 2017, however, four new teams (Haryana Steelers, Gujarat Fortunegiants, Tamil Thalaivas and U.P. Yoddha) joined the vivo Pro Kabaddi bandwagon, making the league even bigger.

Even the opportunities for kabaddi players have grown as just 96 players were drafted in the inaugural 2014 season as compared to the 227 players in Season 7. This included 27 international players from 7 countries across the world!

There hasn’t just been an increase in the number of players the league is seeing but also an improvement in the overall athleticism and professionalism. Coaches and support staff now monitor everything from the athletes’ skills, diet, exercise regime, and mental toughness. Video analysis has also added a new dimension to the gameplay.

With seven scintillating seasons, more than 650 enthralling encounters, 6 MVPs and 5 different PKL champions, the vivo Pro Kabaddi league is at the heart of the kabaddi revolution.

Let's look back at some of the most interesting milestones and records from past seasons before the 'Panga' begins again in Season 8.
