Gujarat Fortunegiants end home leg with victory

Gujarat Fortunegiants won their final home game at The Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad as they beat Haryana Steelers 40-31. This victory was their first over Haryana Steelers and also took them over U Mumba to top spot in Zone A. Sachin and Parvesh Bhainswal were the stars of the show for the home side as they managed a Super 10 and High 5 respectively.

Gujarat Fortunegiants and Mahendra Ganesh Rajput started the night on a high as Rajput evaded a tackle and managed a Super Raid off the very first raid of the game getting touches on Sunil, Vikash Khandola and Parveen. They managed to get two more points to go into an early lead before conceding their first points of the game as Haryana Steelers managed a Super Tackle by way of Rajput stepping out of the playing area.

Haryana Steelers got their first points scored of a player in the 7^th minute as substitute Anand Surendra Tomar got a bonus and a touch on Sachin Vittala to reduce the deficit to three points. A block by Bhainswal on Tomar in the 9^th minute helped Gujarat Fortunegiants inflict their first All-Out of the game as the scores read 11-4.

Sachin Shingade got Haryana Steelers a tackle point in the 14^th minute courtesy a double Ankle Hold on Sachin as the scores read 15-9. Haryana Steelers captain Monu Goyat got his first points of the night in the 18^th minute by way of a Super Raid as he got touches on his counterpart Sunil Kumar, Hadi Oshtorak and a bonus to help reduce the deficit to four points.

Gujarat Fortunegiants went into the half with a six-point lead as Kumar got a double Thigh Hold on Khandola as the scores read 21-15.

Haryana Steelers began the second half the brighter of the two teams and managed to inflict another Super Tackle in the 3^rd minute courtesy a Shingade Double Thigh Hold on K. Prapanjan on a Do-or-Die raid. A third Super Tackle of the game followed in the 5^th minute with Rajput on the receiving end of a Kuldeep Singh-Ankle Hold as the scores read 22-17 in Gujarat Fortunegiants’ favour.

A Bhainswal Double Thigh Hold on Tomar reduced Haryana Steelers to a solitary player on the mat before Sachin got a touch on Shingade around midway in the second half to inflict the second All-Out of the night on Haryana Steelers and increase Gujarat Fortunegiants’ lead to 10 points.

Bhainswal reached his 100^th VIVO Pro Kabaddi tackle point with a block on Khandola in the 14^th minute before Sachin completed his 4^th Super 10 of the season in the 16^th minute with a touch on Sunil as the scores read 36-25. Bhainswal got his High 5 in the 18^th minute and also got his 50^th tackle point of the season with a thigh hold on Naveen.

Even though the game was out of reach for Haryana Steelers, Goyat managed to reach his Super 10 courtesy of a bonus in the 18^th minute. The last points of the encounter went Gujarat Fortunegiants’ way as Oshtorak pushed Khandola out of the playing area to hand them a 40-31 win.
