An all-round performance by Mahesh Goud helped an unstoppable Bengal Warriors beat Jaipur Pink Panthers 39-28 at the Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna on Saturday. The raider scored 9 points in his team’s cause, of which 7 were raid points while 2 were tackle points.

In the opening exchanges, the teams were level at 3-3 before a 4-point Goud Super Raid put Bengal Warriors 7-3 up.

A touch by Maninder Singh on Mohit Chhillar reduced Jaipur Pink Panthers to a solitary player on the mat. With the next raid, Maninder inflicted the first All-Out of the game on Jaipur Pink Panthers, giving his team a 13-5 lead.

A 2-point raid by Anup Kumar helped reduce the deficit to 6 points before Dhull's Ankle Hold on Maninder ensured Jaipur Pink Panthers ended the half only 5 points behind, with the scores reading 18-13.

 The second half was intriguing as both teams went about getting points. The first point of the half went to Jaipur Pink Panthers as an Ankle Hold by Anup Kumar on Jang Kun Lee reduced Bengal Warriors to 2 men on the mat. But off the very next raid, Adarsh T locked an Ankle Hold on Hooda to register the first Super Tackle of the game and increase his team’s lead back to 6 points.

A PO Surjeet Singh tackle on Pawar resulted in another Super Tackle for Bengal Warriors before Goud’s second Super Raid of the match gave them a 25-14 lead.

Jaipur Pink Panthers got a Super Tackle of their own and reduced the deficit to 8 points. Ran Singh then got Dhull with a touch to reduce Jaipur Pink Panthers to a solitary player before contributing in defence to help Bengal Warriors inflict their second All-Out of the game in the 12th minute to lead 32-20.

Surjeet Singh completed his High 5 when he dashed Hooda out of the playing area. This helped increase Bengal Warriors’ lead to 11 points.

The lead stayed at 11 as Hooda managed a bonus off the last raid of the match to take the scores to 39-28; the win taking Bengal Warriors to the top of Zone B.
