Delhi stage an incredible comeback to stun Jaipur

The first match of the second day of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 saw Season 1 Champions Jaipur Pink Panthers taking on the team from the national capital, Dabang Delhi K.C. at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium in Hyderabad on Saturday. After missing the chance to win their second trophy in Season 4’s final where they lost to Patna Pirates, the team from Jaipur was geared up to start the new season with a bang. On the other hand, Dabang Delhi was looking forward to starting the new season with great expectations. Captains from both teams, Jaipur’s Manjeet Chhillar and Delhi’s Meraj Sheykh were the star attractions and the passionate fans were anticipating a cracking encounter.

Chhillar won the toss and got to choose the preferred side of the mat. Dabang Delhi started their raid with captain Sheykh but nothing came of it. Jasvir Singh led the first raid for Jaipur Pink Panthers but he was tackled brilliantly by Viraj Vishnu Landge and this opened the account for the Delhi franchise. The first point of Jaipur was won by the brilliance of Chhillar through a perfect thigh hold. After a series of do-or-die raids, the first All-Out of the match happened in the 10th minute when Jasvir Singh led Delhi’s ouster from the mat. Another series of do-or-die raids later, the first half ended with Jaipur comfortably leading 16-9.

The second half started with Jaipur’s Tushar Patil going out for a raid but he was tackled by Sunil. The turnaround in the match happened in the 21st minute when Sheykh initiated Jaipur Pink Panthers’ first All-Out of the match. By the 24th minute, the scoreline was tied. Yet another series of do-or-die raids and a review later, Sheykh again led the second All-Out when he ousted the lone Pawan Kumar. Apart from Sheykh, defender Nilesh Shinde was another player who played a big role in Delhi’s dominance with five tackle points. The team from the capital city of India eventually claimed the game 30-26 and it was their second win against the Panthers in eight outings.
