It was sheer drama in the last match of the Delhi leg as the gallant efforts of home team Dabang Delhi went in vain as their match ended in a 45-45 draw. It was their five-star raider Kashiling Adake who had to endure heart break as he was declared out after the buzzer raid following a video referral. He had failed to cross the baulk line and at the same time claimed a touch on Deepak Niwas Hudda which was denied post the TV review.

At half time the Dabangs led 20-18 with an all-out (16-13) inflicted in the 15th minute. After watching the early proceedings nobody had expected a cliff-hanger of this magnitude. In the end Kabaddi won and Kashiling’s name will remain in the record books and etched in the hearts of the spectators for a long- long time.

There were emotional scenes as Kashiling kept on claiming and swearing a touch and Deepak reciprocating in the same manner. Finally Kashiling who did all he could, scoring 24 points with the help of three super raids, a fifer and two three pointers had disappointment written all over his face. Had Delhi won they would have kept their chances alive but now they might have to wait for next year. The three points took them to 26 while the Titans at a tally of 45, are now above table leaders U Mumba on superior point difference.

It was a day of super raids as the first episode was authored by Sukesh Hegde to take his side to 11-6 but he hurt his hamstring in the process. The Dabangs replied in the same coin when substitute Selvamani got four to bring his team back in the fray at 10-11. But Deepak put things in Titans’ favour by engineering an all-out.

The lead kept changing hands after the break. There was a super tackle on Kashiling followed by an all-out threat on the Titans. The struggle for supremacy continued with Meraj Sheykh the Iranian enacting two dramatic acts. He came up with two back to back super raids. He had a  three-pointer with a bonus and a fifer to tally 10 points in just four raids till then.

But the decimation came with Rohit Kumar Choudhary getting a couple and Kashiling followed it up with his second super raid to get Titans dismissed. It was 37-33 in favour of Delhi with just about five minutes left. With none of the sides relenting in their efforts there was more drama in store.

It was the turn of Rahul Chaudhari to score a three point super raid and not to be outdone Kashiling responded and Delhi went ahead 41-40 amid thunderous decibel levels which went on increasing. Kashi fired the last salvo with a bonus plus two in the dying moments to yet again raise his side’s hopes. But it was a tragedy for Kashiling, as Delhi lost the plot after being up at 45-43. It was Deepak Hudda who spoiled their party in the end as he snatched two points before that and then successfully appealed for the referral after the umpire had ruled in Delhi’s favour.
