One of the most important pairings in a vivo Pro Kabaddi team are the corner defenders. Corner duos are especially crucial to a team because they are the ones who must be in sync with each other while attempting tackles. A mistimed tackle by one of the players in the corner can in turn lead to the others falling prey to the raiders and giving away multiple points.

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at some of the best corner duos that featured in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 9.

Ankush and Sahul Kumar (Jaipur Pink Panthers)

It was an overwhelming season for Jaipur Pink Panthers as the defensive pairing of Ankush and Sahul Kumar was on top of their game. The debutant, Ankush was the best defender this season with 89 tackle points. Sahul Kumar shouldered the bulk of the defensive responsibility for the Panthers with 56 tackle points.

Saurabh Nandal and Aman (Bengaluru Bulls)

The experienced Saurabh Nandal was the most consistent defender for Bengaluru Bulls this season. With 72 tackle points, he was the team’s go-to defender and relied on support from another solid corner in Aman. The left corner was a reliable force as he amassed 60 tackle points alongside teammate Nandal.

Mohammadreza Chiyaneh and Sunil (Patna Pirates)

The Iranian looked rock solid in the defence as he produced 84 tackle points for the Pirates. With his fearless approach, Mohammadreza Chiyaneh was the second best defender on the leaderboard this season. He had a good understanding on the mat with Sunil. The right corner Sunil played a vital role in the defence for the Pirates with 41 tackle points.

Sahil Gulia and Sagar (Tamil Thalaivas)

Sahil Gulia was the top defender for Tamil Thalaivas as he scored 57 tackle points. He proved his mettle for his side with quality defence alongside another defensive stalwart in Sagar. Like Sahil Gulia, Sagar was also impressive in the defence as he accumulated 53 tackle points in this campaign for the Thalaivas.

Rinku and Mohit (U Mumba)

Rinku was a consistent defender for the Mumboys who scored 59 tackle points in this edition of vivo Pro Kabaddi. He proved to be a smart operator and clinical while initiating tackles. He was partnered with the debutant in Mohit, who added 44 tackle points to his name in the tournament for U Mumba.
