Record-breaker Pardeep Narwal announced his retirement from the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) on Monday after going unsold at the recently concluded PKL Season 12 Player Auction.

Fondly known as the ‘Dubki King’, Pardeep stunned kabaddi fans with the announcement during a live video with sports broadcaster Sunil Taneja.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest kabaddi players, the 28-year-old ended his legendary Pro Kabaddi career with a record 1,801 raid points in 190 matches, averaging 9.47 raid points per match.

Born in Rindhana village of Haryana's Sonipat district, Pardeep began his Pro Kabaddi journey with the Bengaluru Bulls during the second season in 2015.

The star raider played a pivotal role in guiding the Patna Pirates to three consecutive PKL titles from Season 3 to 5 during his five-year stint with the franchise.

Earlier, in Season 3, Pardeep finished the campaign with the most raid points (116). He continued his magnificent form in the following season with a staggering 131 raid points, the second-highest, only behind Rahul Chaudhari (146).

Later in Season 5, Pardeep cemented his legacy as one of PKL’s all-time greats, as the raider racked up a mammoth 369 raid points, the most raid points accumulated by any player in a single PKL season till date.

After emerging as one of the most decorated players in PKL history, Pardeep signed for the UP Yoddhas ahead of Season 8 in 2021 for a whopping INR 1.65 crore.

In the 2021 and 2022 seasons, he amassed 188 and 220 points respectively, helping the Yoddhas secure semi-final spots. However, he managed only 111 points in Season 11 for the Bengaluru Bulls.

Pardeep was also part of the Indian national kabaddi team that won the 2016 Kabaddi World Cup and the 2017 Asian Kabaddi Championship.
