A new chapter is set to be written in VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5's diary with the Lucknow leg getting underway on Friday. However, the memories from the Ahmedabad leg will be difficult to forget as several awe-inspiring moments came to pass during the last seven days at The Arena. The stadium, which witnessed India lifting the Kabaddi World Cup in 2016, witnessed plenty of entertainment and excitement besides providing us with some remarkable moments to be savoured. Here's a compilation of the Top 5 moments from the Ahmedabad leg.

Gujarat Fortunegiants’ dominant display

Gujarat Fortunegiants started their home campaign following a defeat, with everyone anticipating them to follow in the footsteps of Telugu Titans and Bengaluru Bulls, both of whom had a below-par home leg. But boy, did they prove everyone wrong, and how! Gujarat ended their home leg undefeated, with their six-game journey comprising 5 straight wins and a tie. The Ahmedabad crowd seemed to work like magic because even after playing every matchday, the team showed no signs of exhaustion but rather a robust mindset and sheer dominance.

Surender Nada’s extraordinary record

Haryana Steelers’ defence is one of the most-dreaded in the league, and captain Surender Nada has a major part to play in it. His corner partnership with Mohit Chhillar is enough to rattle even the best raiders in the business, and his sturdy ankle-hold is second to none. One of India’s leading defenders, Nada added another jewel to his crown by becoming the first player ever in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history to pick up four consecutive High 5s in a season. He currently boasts 24 tackle points from just 4 matches.

Super Sachin’s Super 10

Gujarat’s young raider, Sachin has been a complete revelation for his team and one of the biggest finds of the season so far. His brilliant display has now placed him third on the total points table, just behind five-star raiders Rahul Chaudhari and Rohit Kumar. In the match against Hyderabad, he sunk the Titans’ ship by picking up his maiden Super 10. He has probably been the most important player in Gujarat’s supremacy at home by unlocking many a tight defence relentlessly.

Sheykh’s killer super raid

Meraj Sheykh has been criticised for inconsistency this season but every time he has stamped his authority he has taken his team over the line. The captain put all criticism to rest when his phenomenal super raid in the dying seconds of match on Thursday ensured that Delhi stole the match from right under the nose of Tamil Thalaivas. Trailing by a point and with a minute remaining on the clock, Sheykh stepped in to raid and came back victorious with 3 important points to turn the tables on his opponents.

Ties galore

As the league completed its third leg on Thursday, the spectators witnessed some closely-fought encounters where the last few seconds decided the outcome. This lays emphasis on the fact that the initial stage of warm-up is over and every team means business now. The third leg of the league saw three ties being played out, between Patna Pirates and U.P. Yoddha, Haryana Steelers and Tamil Thalaivas, and Gujarat Fortunegiants and Bengal Warriors. With the league entering its fourth leg on Friday, the battles are sure to get more intense, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if more teams split the points.
