On a day where most of the Gujarat Fortunegiants players failed to make an impact against fellow newcomers Haryana Steelers in a 32-20 defeat at Nagpur’s Mankapur Indoor Stadium on Tuesday, one man stood strong and took charge in both the attack and defensive departments for his team. That player was 18-year-old Sachin. Brought into the side primarily as a raider, Sachin brought his all-round abilities to the fore by initiating two tackles in defence, including a super tackle in the 8th minute.

Scoring 3 points in defence and 5 in attack, Sachin finished the match with 8 points, the highest points-haul of the match and joint-highest points-haul of the day along with Telugu Titans’ Rahul Chaudhari, who repeated the feat against Bengaluru Bulls in the second match of the day.

As the Fortunegiants now enter their home leg, where they play 6 games on the trot, they will be hoping for similar performances from the youngster to keep their VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 campaign on track.
