U.P. Yoddha got the better of Bengal Warriors in match 69 of vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7.

U.P. Yoddha closed the gap on the top 6 in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 after a 32-29 win over Bengal Warriors at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru on Sunday. Shrikant Jadhav was once again the star raider for U.P. Yoddha, while skipper Nitesh Kumar was their best defender.

Bengal Warriors started well and took a 3-0 lead before U.P. Yoddha picked up their first point of the match in the fourth minute. It looked like U.P. Yoddha would succumb to the first All-Out of the game towards the end of the first quarter of the contest. However, two Super Tackles by skipper Nitesh Kumar and a two-point raid by substitute Ankush ensured that Bengal Warriors would have to work harder to get there.

U.P. Yoddha went on to take the lead momentarily towards the end of the half, but a Super Tackle by Bengal Warriors’ Rinku Narwal helped wrestle back the advantage for his team. Bengal Warriors finished the opening half with another Super Tackle and, even though U.P. Yoddha got a point after that, they still trailed Bengal Warriors 12-13 going into the break.

Shrikant Jadhav held his nerve and was successful in the buzzer raid.

U.P. Yoddha levelled things up at 13-13 in the second period before a Super Tackle by Baldev Singh got Bengal Warriors back in front. Successive successful raids by Shrikant Jadhav, though, finally helped inflict the first All-Out of the game and gave U.P. Yoddha a 19-17 lead with close to 15 minutes left in the match.

Jadhav continued to score raid points for U.P. Yoddha but Bengal Warriors showed their class on both ends of the mat to tie things up at 23-23 soon after. With the game going down to the wire, the sides looked to score in Do-or-Die raids. Another successful tackle by Nitesh on K. Prapanjan, however, gave U.P. Yoddha a one-point lead to protect in the last five minutes.

U.P. Yoddha went on to extend their lead to three points. Bengal Warriors took the game to the buzzer raid in search of a tie, with a Super Tackle on in a Do-or-Die situation. Jadhav, though, kept his cool and executed a successful raid under pressure to give U.P. Yoddha a win.
