U.P. Yoddha made it back-to-back wins at home in vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7 after a 43-39 victory over Puneri Paltan at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida on Sunday. Rishank Devadiga led their raiding unit and finished with seven raid points, while skipper Nitesh Kumar scored a High 5.

Rishank Devadiga was U.P. Yoddha’s best raider during their win against Puneri Paltan.

After sharing the first six point equally, it was the hosts who took charge of the contest. Monu Goyat, Devadiga and Surender Singh all found success while raiding as U.P. Yoddha delighted their fans with an All-Out to take a 11-4 in the fifth minute. Puneri Paltan tried to fight back after the reset and did score a few quick points, but they were finding it difficult to contain U.P. Yoddha’s raiders.

Successful raids by Goyat, Devadiga and Sachin Kumar along with a few decisive tackles led to U.P. Yoddha enforcing another All-Out despite dealing with some resistance, in the form of a Super Tackle, from Puneri Paltan. The hosts then added to their advantage with efficient play on both ends of the mat to take a 29-14 lead into the break.

Puneri Paltan were quick off the block in the second period courtesy of some robust defending and clinical raiding by Manjeet. They were rewarded for their efforts and reduced the deficit to 29-23 after inflicting an All-Out within minutes of the restart.

Anup Kumar’s men continued to pile the pressure on the home side after the reset but U.P. Yoddha also ensured that they kept the scoreboard ticking over. U.P. Yoddha, in fact, looked like they were going to enforce an All-Out but a Super Tackle by Puneri Paltan’s Surjeet Singh kept them at bay.

The final stages of the match saw Nitin Tomar put together a string of successful raids to help make it all square at 36-36 with less than three minutes to play. In the end though a crucial two-point raid by Devadiga and successful tackles on Tomar and Manjeet were enough for the hosts to get another win under their belt.
