Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) has given us plenty of inspiring leaders over the years and Season 10 also had its fair share of inspirational captains who led their teams by example on and off the mat. A Pro Kabaddi skipper needs to be well versed with several aspects of the game like strategizing, motivating, and making crunch decisions for the betterment of one’s team besides also leading from the front. In match situations, a captain’s role in the team trumps even that of a coach as it is the skipper who needs to take all-important calls on the mat in a split second while also being constantly aware of the game situation and having the match awareness to deem what’s best for the team. With that in mind, let’s look at the best captains in Pro Kabaddi League Season 10.

Aslam Inamdar - Puneri Paltan

All-rounder Aslam Inamdar played a pivotal role as skipper of Puneir Paltan en route to their maiden PKL triumph. An ever-present on the mat, Inamdar contributed on both ends of the mat for the Paltan as he amassed 142 raid points and 26 tackle points. His overall contribution to the team saw him deservedly bag the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of Season 10 award as he ensured that his team dictated the tempo of play while on the mat. After Puneri Paltan qualified for the PKL 10 playoffs, Inamdar also opted to sit out a few games to ensure other members of his squad got game time and match sharpness.

Sunil Kumar - Jaipur Pink Panthers

Season 10 of Pro Kabaddi saw Jaipur Pink Panthers’ Sunil Kumar become the first Indian player to captain 100 PKL games. A title-winning skipper with Jaipur Pink Panthers in Season 9, Sunil Kumar once again did a good job in helping guide the two-time champions to a semi-final appearance in PKL 10. Sunil Kumar, who has also been the skipper of Gujarat Giants in the past, finished Season 10 with 55 tackle points besides also pulling off a stunning Super Raid for the Panthers in the recently-concluded campaign.

Jaideep Dahiya - Haryana Steelers

Tasked with captaincy duties for Season 10, Haryana Steelers’ Jaideep Dahiya rose to the challenge of leading his team and performed well for his team as his numbers suggest. Part of a rock solid defence with the Steelers, Jaideep Dahiya wasn’t fazed by captaincy responsibilities and scored 68 tackle points to finish among the top 10 tacklers in PKL 10. Over the course of the campaign, Dahiya managed to execute as many as seven Super Tackles while also notching up six High 5s.

Ashu Malik - Dabang Delhi K.C.

The biggest revelation not just in terms of ability and potential but also when it comes to captaincy duties came with Dabang Delhi K.C.. Put in the unenviable position of taking over the mantle of both Dabang Delhi K.C.’s lead raider and skipper from Naveen Kumar, Ashu Malik rose to the challenge and did so in style. He finished the season as the joint-top raid points scorer in PKL 10 and also bagged the joint most Super Raids (9). He finished the campaign with 15 Super 10s and was key to Dabang Delhi K.C.’s run to the playoffs.

Fazel Atrachali - Gujarat Giants

A former Pro Kabaddi champion and an experienced defender with the most tackle points (486) in PKL history, Iranian star Fazel Atrachali did a good job in leading his team Gujarat Giants to a playoff finish in Season 10. Unsurprisingly the leading tackle points scorer (62) for his team in Season 10, Fazel Atrachali is the most successful captain in PKL history and was hailed by the Giants’ coach Ram Mehar Singh as the league’s best skipper. He finished the campaign with four Super Tackles and three High 5s to go with his 60-plus tackle points.
