Tamil Thalaivas score first victory over Telugu Titans

A strong defensive performance from Tamil Thalaivas saw them score their first victory over Telugu Titans in VIVO Pro Kabaddi as they won 27-23 at The Arena by TransStadia in Ahmedabad on Tuesday. Captain Ajay Thakur returned with eight raid points on the night while Manjeet Chhillar led the defence with three tackle points.

Tamil Thalaivas started the game on a high as Sukesh Hegde put in a two-point raid on their first raid of the match to get rid of Telugu Titans’ corners, Abozar Mohajermighani and Krushna Madane. Telugu Titans leveled the scores at 4-4 courtesy a Mohajermighani-Ankle Hold on Athul MS.

With Telugu Titans fighting back, Hegde then got an Ankle Hold on Nilesh Salunke to record the game’s first Super Tackle in the 6^th minute to put Tamil Thalaivas 6-4 up. Tamil Thalaivas kept chipping away at the scoreboard as Telugu Titans attempted to comeback but Tamil Thalaivas didn’t give them an opening.

The pressure got the better of Telugu Titans as Thakur managed a Super Raid in the 16^th minute with touches on Mohajermighani, Madane and Salunke to push Tamil Thalaivas’ lead to seven points. Tamil Thalaivas used this momentum to inflict the first All-Out of the game as Chhillar pushed Rahul Chaudhari out of the playing area in the 18^th minute to take the scores to 17-9. The half ended with Tamil Thalaivas taking an eight-point advantage into the second half as the scores read 18-10.

Telugu Titans started as the better team in the second half though as they managed seven of the first ten points of the half to reduce the deficit to four points as both teams played on Do-or-Die raids. Both teams kept the scoreboard ticking despite playing on Do-or-Die raids as the deficit for Telugu Titans stayed constant at five points with three minutes to play.

Tamil Thalaivas effectively won the game as Athul got a touch on Mohajermighani in the 18^th minute as the lead remained at five points.  The writing was on the wall however came as Chaudhari couldn’t score a point off a Do-or-Die raid as Tamil Thalaivas secured their first victory over Telugu Titans in VIVO Pro Kabaddi.
