In his first match as captain for U.P. Yoddha, Rishank Devadiga scored a record 28 raid points and gave his side an easy 21-point victory against Jaipur Pink Panthers on Thursday.

U.P. Yoddha came into the match comfortably placed in the third spot of Zone B and hence decided to rest their regular captain Nitin Tomar. Tomar had also been the most dominant raider for U.P. so far, rescuing the team on various occasions. However, on Thursday Devadiga took over the responsibility of leading the side and proved he is as good a leader as any, brushing aside any concerns that the team might miss Tomar. The Jaipur tacklers had no answer on the night and managed to tackle him just once in his 27 raids. Devadiga kept running away with super raid after super raid, denting the confidence of the Jaipur tacklers each time.

With U.P. now almost sealing a berth in the playoffs, Devadiga’s performance will give the team a lot of confidence and when Tomar returns, all hell will break loose for the opponent teams.
