The last Inter Zone Challenge Week of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 ended with two blockbuster encounters with Bengal Warriors edging Jaipur Pink Panthers (32-31) and U Mumba overcoming Tamil Thalaivas (33-30) in Chennai on Sunday. As far as individual performers were concerned, Bengal Warriors’ Maninder Singh stood out.

Maninder ended Sunday’s heady encounter with a match-high 16 points. Out of his 24 raids, he was tackled only 3 times which says a lot about his dominance on the mat. After an All-Out late in the second half, the Warriors were trailing by 5 points and with only 5 minutes remaining on the clock, Maninder totally owned the stage and picked up rapid points to keep his side in the hunt.

However, his brilliance took on a much higher form in the last action of the match when he went for a do-or-die raid. Even though he was tackled, he managed to pick up a bonus which ensured the Warriors’ narrow victory. His tally of 155 raid points picked up this season finds him only second to Pardeep Narwal in the top raiders list and is a clear indication of how dependent the Warriors are on his prowess.
