Name: Maninder Singh

Team: Bengal Warriors

Position: Raider

Bengal Warriors condemned defending champions Patna Pirates to their first loss against a Zone B opposition this season after winning 41-38 win at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Friday. The Pirates looked to be on course for yet another victory but Bengal’s Maninder Singh came to life late in the second half to alter the course of the game.

After a slow start to the game in the first period, Maninder was at his menacing best when his team needed a hero. He scored a game-high 13 points, including a Super 10. Twelve of his 19 raids ended in success and accounted for 11 touch points and two bonus points.

However, it was the timing of his showing that really shone through on the day since it looked like Patna were heading for victory. Maninder was having none of that and managed to pull off seven consecutive successful raids in the second period to guide the Warriors to a win in their first home match of the season.
