Name: Manjeet Chhillar

Team: Jaipur Pink Panthers

Position: All-rounder

The last day of the Nagpur leg saw two closely-fought encounters with both Jaipur Pink Panthers and Tamil Thalaivas registering their first win of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 against Puneri Paltan and Bengaluru Bulls respectively on Thursday evening. A number of players starred for both winning teams but the honour of the ‘Star of the Day’ goes to none other than ‘One-Man-Army’ Manjeet Chhillar.

Chhillar started the match low as Puneri Paltan’s strategy clicked well, which kept him off the mat for more than 7 minutes from the first 15 minutes. But once his team revived him, there was no stopping him. He came in all guns blazing to end the match with 9 points (7 tackle and 2 touch points). Out of his 10 tackle attempts, he was successful 6 times, while also unleashing a super tackle, which saw Paltan captain Deepak Hooda being dashed off the mat.

Chhillar got steady support from his teammates, especially Jasvir Singh and Tushar Patil but his captaincy and solid presence on the mat proved to be most decisive.  Not only did he manage to collect a High 5 but also became the first man in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history to cross the 200 tackle-points milestone. He will definitely be looking to build on this performance when Jaipur next up line against hosts Gujarat Fortunegiants at Ahmedabad on Sunday.
