Gujarat Fortunegiants returned to the top of Zone A after a 39-28 victory over U Mumba at the Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Ranchi on Friday. After a tight tussle in the opening period, the Fortunegiants ran away with the contest in the second half thanks to some brilliant raiding by young Sachin.

One of the revelations of the season, Sachin has become Gujarat’s go-to raider this year and showed everyone just why with another five-star performance. He picked up a game-high 14 points against Mumbai, including another Super 10. Twelve of his 14 points were touch points along with one bonus point, besides also contributing in defence with a tackle point.

However, what the stats don’t reveal is how much of an impact his raids had on the outcome of the match. In an otherwise neck-and-neck encounter, it was Sachin’s devastating raids that led to both the All-Outs on U Mumba. His four-point raid in the dying moments was another example of just how devastating the youngster can be to opposition defences.
