Gujarat Fortunegiants strengthened their position at the summit of Zone A with a 45-23 win over U Mumba at the Harivansh Tana Bhagat Indoor Stadium in Ranchi on Wednesday. One of the most fascinating aspects of Gujarat’s season has been their ability not to rely heavily on any particular player, and so it proved again as a relatively new-face Chandran Ranjit top-scored for them with 11 points.

26-year-old Ranjit, of whom kabaddi fans have not seen much this season, picked up a Super 10 for Gujarat as they registered a comfortable victory over Mumbai, their third win over the Maharashtra team this edition.

He notched up a game-high 11 points and was well supported in offence by young Sachin. Ranjit attempted a total of 18 raids, seven of which were successful. Very bright and effective particularly in the opening period, Ranjit picked up 10 touch points as well as a bonus.
