Siddharth Desai: We worked hard on our defence

A stellar performance from U Mumba’s defence handed them a 39-23 win over Dabang Delhi K.C. and propelled them to the top of the standings in Zone A. In the post-match press conference, captain Fazel Atrachali and raider Siddharth Desai took question for U Mumba, whereas Dabang Delhi K.C. were represented by captain Joginder Singh Narwal and coach Krishan Kumar Hooda.

Q. Thoughts on the result?

Fazel Atrachali: We are very pleased. The way we played and executed our game plan was perfect. Once again, we showed what U Mumba is capable of.

Q. Same question to you Siddharth.

Siddharth Desai: The way we lost our last fixture was uncharacteristic of us. So, we worked on the defence and we prepared intently for this contest. And that made this victory possible. It was teamwork all the way.

Q. Thoughts on Surender Singh’s performances?

Fazel Atrachali: This season, Surender is playing like an experienced player. Last year, he played well but he lacked some poise. But this season, he has polished his game and is in much better control of proceedings.

Q. What went wrong today?

Krishan Kumar Hooda: We couldn’t execute our game plan like we would have wanted to in the first half. Their offence and defence played incredibly well, and that’s what handed them the win.

Q. Thoughts on Naveen’s performance?

Joginder Singh Narwal: It’s normal to have off days. Every raider in this league does. He has performed tremendously well for us but today wasn’t his day and that happens.

Q. What went wrong in defence?

Joginder Singh Narwal: It was more them than us. They are one of the best teams in the league and they showed that today.
