After waiting eagerly for VIVO Pro Kabaddi to kick off its fifth season, fans were treated to some exciting derby clashes on Day 1 of the league. Both matches had the fans at the edge of their seats with end-to-end action and now, this kabaddi extravaganza moves on to Day 2. Let’s take a look at the clashes of the day.

Match 1 (Zone A): Jaipur Pink Panthers vs Dabang Delhi K.C.

Head-to-head: Jaipur Pink Panthers 6–1 Dabang Delhi

Last season, Jaipur Pink Panthers reached the final but narrowly missed out on the title against an inspired Patna Pirates. However, it’s a new season and they will have to start from scratch just like most teams. Their first challenge? Dabang Delhi K.C. – who will be eager to prove a point this time around.

With both sides having a strong defence, it will be interesting to see who blinks first in what promises to be a close game. “One Man Army” Manjeet Chhillar will be a key player as he heads the defence for the Panthers. He will look to run a water-tight operation in their opening game. Jasvir Singh and do-or-die specialist Selvamani K will also look to tighten the screws and steal points against the Delhi tacklers. Youngsters Ajit Singh, Santhapanaselvam and Nitin Rawal will also be keen to get a look-in early on in the league.

Dabang Delhi K.C., meanwhile, will look up to captain Meraj Sheykh and Nilesh Shinde to lead the charge in the defence department. Young attacking raiders such as Ravi Dalal and Rohit Baliyan are also good enough to trouble any side and fans will be hoping they come good. The likes of Bajirao Hodage and Viraj Vishnu Landge will also be eager to make their mark on the match.

Match 2 (Zone B): Telugu Titans vs Patna Pirates

Head-to-head: Telugu Titans 6–3 Patna Pirates

Telugu Titans will hope to build on their winning start against Tamil Thalaivas on Friday as they now battle it out against defending champions Patna Pirates. Fans from both teams will be waiting with bated breath to see which of the two top raiding sides will come out on top.

The league’s very own ‘Raid Machine’ Rahul Chaudhari, who had a good outing on Friday, and all-rounder Rakesh Kumar will be looking to take the opposition defence apart with big raids and put the game beyond the Pirates’ reach. Their defensive line, consisting of Rohit Rana and Vishal Bhardwaj, however will definitely be tested. But they will have the opportunity again to replicate their opening day performance.

At the other end, Patna Pirates’ dubki king Pardeep Narwal and Monu Goyat will look to exploit the Telugu Titans defence. They have powerful covers in Vishal Mane and Sachin Shingade, and the team will definitely be looking for a winning start to begin their title defence on a good note.
