The buzz around VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 6 has already started going around following the announcement of the 21 Elite Retained Players. Some teams chose to retain a large part of their core while others went for a different approach, preferring to start with a clean slate.
Among the former was Chennai-based franchise Tamil Thalaivas. Having made their VIVO Pro Kabaddi debut just last year, the Thalaivas ensured that their key players remained in the side in order to continue their vision of building a competitive team. While they obviously retained their top raider and their top defender, another youngster who they showed a lot of faith in was defender C Arun.
A youngster who was a rock in the Tamil Thalaivas defence in Season 5, C Arun made a big impression when he managed to fearlessly engage and get the better of a strong Bengal Warriors attack consisting of big names like Maninder Singh, Jang Kun Lee and Deepak Narwal (Match 92). He even earned the praise of his captain Ajay Thakur, who spoke highly of his agility and anticipation.
"I am pleased with the faith shown by the franchise,” the Thanjavur-based young defender told the Times of India, “Playing for my 'home' team gives me that extra motivation to go out there and do well. Representing a sport that has origins in our state is another huge incentive to be part of the Thalaivas."
As he prepares for another campaign in Tamil Thalaivas threads, C Arun is leaving no stone unturned in an effort to be at his peak during the season. He revealed his daily routine, which consisted of 4 hours of rigorous training, which he fits into a busy work day.
"In the morning from 6-8, I go for practice at the Nehru Stadium before heading for office. In the evening, I am there for training from 4.30 onwards. Ahead of this season, I am keen on being at the peak of my fitness," he said.
While the results are yet to be seen, C Arun is certainly keen to prove a point this season and help Tamil Thalaivas to a successful campaign.
