Defending champions Bengaluru Bulls returned to winning ways in VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 7 with a 30-26 win over U Mumba at the DOME@NSCI SVP Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday. Pawan ‘Hi-Flyer’ Sehrawat’s late burst saw the reigning champions overturn U Mumba’s lead in the closing stages of the contest for their second win this season. Randhir Singh Sehrawat, captain Rohit Kumar and Pawan attended the post-match press conference for Bengaluru Bulls, while U Mumba coach Sanjeev Kumar spoke to reporters from the opposition camp.
Q. What was the game-plan after the loss in the last game?
Randhir Singh Sehrawat: I just told the boys this is the first phase of the tournament after our loss in the last game. And we lost by just few points. Plus, we had a five-day rest period, where we introspected, and lot of questions were brought up by the team. We’ve practised as well, so we hope for better in the future. I told them one thing (about tonight’s match), both teams’ defence is strong but our raiders – Pawan and Rohit – are better than theirs.
Q. What did you tell your side at half-time?
Randhir Singh Sehrawat: At the start of the game, I don’t think U Mumba took many points. Most of their points came because of our errors. Our defence went to tackle players where there were no tackles to be made. But Pawan and Rohit told me at half-time that don’t worry, we’ll do well. And last year also we won many games after half-time.
Q. Pawan, what are your thoughts on your Super 10 showing?
Pawan Sehrawat: First few matches I was taking a lot of pressure on myself but this match before the game, our coach told me not to take pressure and just go out there and express myself. He told me taking pressure is the captain’s job, you just go out there and express yourself.
Q. Thoughts on U Mumba’s defence?
Sanjeev Kumar: Our raiders performed very well tonight straight from the start but our defence couldn’t perform well throughout the game.
Q. Your thoughts on Arjun Deshwal’s performance?
Sanjeev Kumar: He’s a very good raider but he hadn’t been given much chances so far because he was new. He performed very well in the Nationals, but he hadn’t played at this level before. However, we are confident that he will perform well in the future.
