A sensational defensive display from the Patna Pirates, led by Mohammadreza Chiyaneh, saw them beat U.P. Yoddha 38-27 and book their berth in the VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 8 final.

The Pirates got off to an impeccable start, as Guman Singh, Sachin and the defence helped their side build a 4-0 lead. A Super Tackle from Ashu Singh got U.P. on the scoreboard and a touch point from Shrikant Jadhav reduced the deficit to one.

But a two-point raid from Guman and an assertive Thigh Hold from Mohammadreza Chiyaneh saw Patna reduce U.P. to just two men on the mat. Sachin added another touch point to his team’s tally before Sunil pinned down Shubham to inflict an All Out on U.P. and take a seven-point lead.

The Pirates continued their relentless surge and scored five unanswered points to reduce U.P. to just two men on the mat again. A second Super Tackle from Ashu kept the All Out at bay, but a sensational team tackle followed by Guman’s touch point left U.P. with only one player on the mat.

Ashu picked up a bonus before being Dashed out of bounds, as the Pirates inflicted a second All Out to take a 14-point lead. Both teams added a couple of points to their total in final two minutes of the half, as they headed into the break with Patna leading 23-9.

The opening few minutes of the second half mirrored the first, as Patna embarked on a 3-0 run before a Super Tackle from U.P.’s defence ended the surge. But their resistance didn’t last long as the Pirates’ defence helped their side inflict another All Out and extend their team’s lead to 17.

Three raid points from Jadhav and a couple of tackle points from their defence saw U.P. reduce the Pirates to just two men on the mat. A stellar Ankle Hold from Nitesh Kumar left Patna with only one defender on the mat, who couldn’t stop Pardeep from picking up a touch point, as U.P. inflicted an All Out to cut the Pirates’ lead to seven.

Pardeep then went in hoping to cut his team’s deficit further but was promptly tackled down by Monu before Sachin picked up an easy touch point as Patna extended their lead to nine.

Mohammadreza’s sixth tackle point and Sachin's sixth touch point saw the Pirates reduce U.P. to just three men and put the game beyond their reach. The two teams resorted to putting in empty raids in the game’s final minute to see the clock out and confirm Patna’s victory.
