Pardeep reigns supreme as Pirates maul Jaipur

After failing to hold their own against home team Bengal Warriors on Friday, Patna Pirates were looking to redeem themselves by getting back to winning ways and that’s exactly what they did against Jaipur Pink Panthers in their Inter Zone Challenge Week match at the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Indoor Stadium in Kolkata on Tuesday. They never looked to give anything away to the Pink Panthers and won 47-21 inflicting the biggest loss of the season so far. Jaipur came into the match without star raider Jasvir Singh in the side, who was out due to injury, and could do little against an in-form Patna Pirates side who were looking to dominate the game from the word go.

Patna Pirates started off in style as Dubki King Pardeep Narwal became the first raider to score 100 points in Season 5 of VIVO Pro Kabaddi. The defenders also came down heavily on the Jaipur attack, which lacked the experience and talent of Jasvir, and gave nothing away as Pardeep kept up his domination at the other end. He picked up a super raid in the 8^th minute which led to a Jaipur Pink Panthers All-Out in the next raid as the Pirates led 11-2. Jaipur tried hard to stay in the contest but the Pirates, led by Pardeep, kept racing away with the advantage and reached 17-7 with 3 minutes left in the first half. They maintained their 10-point lead going into half time at 19-9.

At resumption, Pardeep picked up where he had left off and soon reached his Super 10 as the Pink Panthers stared at their second All-Out. It was finally inflicted on them in the 2^nd minute and Patna increased their lead to 24-9. Jaipur kept slipping further under pressure from the Dubki King and had to face another All-Out in the 11^th minute and along with that a 37-14 deficit. Raider Monu Goyat also added insult to injury late into the game and came away with 10 points as Patna won with a massive 47-21 scoreline, with Pardeep scoring 21 points in a single game, the highest this season so far. The Pirates rose to the second spot on the Zone B leaderboard with this win.
