Gujarat Fortunegiants made it five wins on the trot at home with a 29-19 victory over Telugu Titans at The Arena in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. Young Sachin was at his devastating best, bagging his first Super 10 this season and a total of 11 points.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Gujarat coach Manpreet Singh revealed his conversation with the players ahead of the match. “Before the match started, in the dressing room we were talking to Sachin, Sukesh (Hegde) and Rohit (Gulia). We told them that we want a Super 10 from them. Sachin did just that, so I’m very happy with that. And if our raiders perform like this, it gets very easy for the defence in the match. It was an easy match for us today because our raids and defence worked while the other team's defence and raids failed,” he said.

Meanwhile, Haryana Steelers and Tamil Thalaivas were involved in a 25-25 thriller earlier in the evening. The Steelers had a half-time lead but the Thalaivas came back strongly in the second period to share the points.

When asked if the half-time interval may have disrupted Haryana’s momentum, captain Surender Nada said: “It’s nothing like that. There were mistakes from both the departments and there were some small mistakes made by the young players as well. So, because of those mistakes the match ended up as a tie.”

Chennai, on the other hand, will be looking to carry the momentum from their spirited second-half display into their encounter against Dabang Delhi K.C. on Thursday. The second match of the night will see Gujarat Fortunegiants looking to end their home leg undefeated with a victory over Bengal Warriors.
