Jaipur Pink Panthers picked up the first win of their home leg at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium on Saturday. The hosts overcame U Mumba 36-32 with Jasvir Singh leading the way with nine points, while Manjeet Chhillar managed a total of six points that included a High 5.

One-Man-Army Chhillar was glad to bounce back after a loss against Gujarat Fortunegiants in their opening home leg fixture and heaped praise on star raider Jasvir. “It feels good if you win a match. Yesterday you told us that we were running behind but today we played against Mumbai and they have a good side. Our team played well and Jasvir played really well. He is our main raider and if he plays well then our team definitely wins the match,” he told reporters at the post-match press conference.

Pink Panthers head coach Balwan Singh, meanwhile, credited both Chhillar and Jasvir for the win. “The two players who are sitting next to me are the best players in the world and when they play I sit back and watch the game. They are in form and despite an injury Manjeet told me to relax and watch the game. It was unfortunate for us that they got injuries in the first half of our campaign but they are still playing for the team which is commendable,” he said.

When asked if they can replicate this winning spirit for the remainder of their home leg, Jasvir replied in the affirmative: “Yes, you will see this spirit for the remaining matches in our home leg as well.”

Chhillar, on the other hand, issued a rallying cry to the Jaipur faithful. “I want to tell them to support us in our wins and our losses. We would like to tell them to pray for us that our team reaches the Super Playoffs first and then the final,” he said.
