Eight schools from across Kolkata competed with each other for the coveted KBD Juniors title as the invitation-based kabaddi tournament in the City of Joy came to an end on Monday. However, in the end it was D.P.S. Megacity who emerged victorious by beating Future Hope School 45-34 in the final to lift the trophy.

Parents and school staff were in attendance and watched on as the junior kabaddi stars of Kolkata raided, blocked and escaped with great enthusiasm and provided the spectators with many moments of breathtaking kabaddi in the process. Khalsa English H.S. gave a tough fight to the eventual champions in the semi-finals but they fell short 24-19.

The other finalists, Future Hope School had an easier time defeating South City International School 27-19 to reach the title showdown. The final was a high-scoring affair as neither team wanted to give away points easily. But D.P.S. Megacity were just too good on the day and managed to surge ahead and win with a 45-34 scoreline. Kabaddi star Deepak Narwal from Bengal Warriors was present to award the trophy at the event which made the victory even more special.

After treating Kolkata audiences to some brilliant kabaddi moments, KBD Juniors now moves to Haryana where 8 more schools will fight it out in a bid to become their city’s top junior kabaddi team.
