Jagdish Kumble: We want to finish at the top of the Zone B standings

A Super 10 from raider Maninder Singh and a stellar display from the defence handed Bengal Warriors a 39-23 victory over Patna Pirates. In the post-match press conference, coach Jagdish Kumble, Ran Singh and raider Maninder Singh took questions from the media.

Q. What was the strategy for the match?

Jagdish Kumble: We had planned to go with the flow. You can plan meticulously but it all depends on what the situation is in the contest. We knew that if we won today, we could go a bit easy in our upcoming games, so that made this an important fixture. Our defence was outstanding today and the raiders responded as well. We capitalised on the momentum that we built and that got us the victory.

Q. Thoughts on your performance?

Maninder Singh: The last time we played against Patna Pirates, they won emphatically. We wanted to win big against them too. So, it was a good day for the team.

Q. Thoughts on the overall performance?

Ran Singh: The entire team played quite well. Maninder Singh was at his usual best and Ravindra Kumawat was brilliant too.

Q. What are you aiming for in the rest of your home leg?

Jagdish Kumble: We want to finish at the top of the Zone B standings. We have only one game against a Zone A side and that’s Dabang Delhi K.C., who beat us last time around. So, we’ll think of that game first and then target the rest of the games.
