Bhaskaran Edacherry, the man who built the U Mumba team from the ground up since the first season of VIVO Pro Kabaddi, will be seen coaching Tamil Thalaivas in Season 6 of the league. He will be seen replacing the experienced K Baskaran, who has been named the Technical Director of the Thalaivas' Strategic Grassroot Programme.

Edacherry knows a thing or two about working with a new team and getting together a bunch of strong players to build a good base in the competition. He was instrumental in U Mumba’s success in the league so far and even helped the team to the title in Season 2.

Coming off a successful stint, Edacherry was excited to be a part of a new team and was hopeful of converting this stint into a successful one as well.

"As a coach, while I look to build on Tamil Nadu's deep, historic affinity with kabaddi, I am also working on building a team that could complement each other’s strengths," said Edacherry.

"I am also glad to be working alongside the management of the Tamil Thalaivas, who have in past discussions indicated a similar roadmap for the sport in the state and for the team in the league."

This will also be a big move for the team’s former coach K Baskaran, who will now be seen enjoying new responsibilities within the same franchise.

"We welcome Coach Bhaskaran Edacherry to the Tamil Thalaivas family,” team CEO Viren D'Silva said. “We thank Coach K Baskaran for his leadership in VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 5 and for taking up the new role in the Strategic Grassroot Programme for Tamil Nadu. We wish both coaches all the best ahead."

While it remains to be seen if Edacherry can bring about a change in Tamil Thalaivas’ fortunes, this new move definitely promises exciting times ahead for the Chennai-based franchise.
