As the Super Playoffs approaches, it is now an all-or-nothing battle for the third and final spot of Zone B after Patna Pirates and Bengal Warriors have sealed their berths. Tamil Thalaivas and Bengaluru Bulls both have an outside chance but a lot will depend on how these teams perform when they take on each other in what also will be the final home game for the former on Thursday. Here is a look at the two teams and how they match up.

Match 110 (Zone B): Tamil Thalaivas vs Bengaluru Bulls

Head-to-head: Tamil Thalaivas 1-1 Bengaluru Bulls

Bengaluru Bulls and Tamil Thalaivas are on 34 and 35 points respectively at the bottom of Zone B but they will both need a big win on Thursday if they are to keep their remote hopes alive. Tamil Thalaivas have failed to make an impression time and time again in their home leg. A victory here could give their fans something to cheer. Bengaluru Bulls too have been on the decline after their upset victory against Puneri Paltan and tie against Telugu Titans. They come into this match after being handed defeats by Patna Pirates, Bengal Warriors and U Mumba in their past 3 matches.

K. Prapanjan was finally looking dangerous on the mat in Wednesday’s game against U.P. Yoddha and that is good news for the Thalaivas. The raider was able to pick up quick bonus points when needed and get important touches at vital junctures. However, the fact that the team lost in spite of him and captain Ajay Thakur both returning Super 10s is highlighting the weakness of the defence. They have brought in Muruthu M to tighten their defensive line but it remains to be seen if he can consistently do the job against the big names and Bengaluru can boast of one such name in Rohit Kumar.

In the Bulls camp, young raider Harish Naik has been quite the find and one can expect him to replace Ajay Kumar in the playing 7 once again on Thursday. Be that as it may, Mahender Singh and Ravinder Pahal will have to take care of the experienced Thakur but in light of his current form, it can prove a Herculean task.

Khel Kabaddi Khiladi:

Ajay Thakur

Thakur has been the most consistent player for Tamil Thalaivas this season. He was the top-scorer of the match once again on Wednesday against U.P. Yoddha. He is our pick for the Khel Kabaddi Khiladi from the Chennai side.

Harish Naik

The youngster outdid even his captain Rohit Kumar in their side’s loss to Bengal Warriors, picking up the only Super 10 of the match, and has been improving with every game for the Bulls.
