Tamil Thalaivas’ debut VIVO Pro Kabaddi season has not been off to a desired start. They sit at the bottom of Zone B with 11 points from 5 matches having registered one win, three defeats and one tie. One good news, however, is that captain Ajay Thakur appears to have come out of his shell - if his 14 points in the Thalaivas’ last game against Dabang Delhi K.C. are anything to go by. Another performer who is going from strength to strength is defender Amit Hooda.

One of the biggest drawbacks for the Thalaivas this season has been their inability to handle pressure during crunch situations, and that has led to their narrow losses, not to mention the tie against fellow debutants Haryana Steelers. Hooda, who so far has 18 points to his name, explained as to what has caused these slip-ups. “We have a lot of young players who don’t have enough experience. They make some mistakes because of which we lose or tie the match,” he told prokabaddi.com ahead of the Yoddha game on Wednesday.

Be that as it may, Hooda was hopeful as regards his team’s chances of a revival. “I think both the departments are doing well. We have played some very close matches. So, we are working on the mistakes which we made in the last few minutes of the matches and will try not to repeat those mistakes,” he said.

With the Yoddha themselves struggling to get their first home win and keep their nerves steady in the dying moments, there can’t be a better opportunity for Tamil Thalaivas to return to winning ways and gift fans their second win of the season.
