Q. Gujarat Fortunegiants seem to be producing star players every year. What’s the secret behind that?

Manpreet Singh: I feel all my players are stars. They are all very talented and skilled players and they have a pretty good understanding of how to play the game as well. From the start of the match till the end, they play the game in a very smart and intelligent manner.

Q. What do you make of your new, young players this season?

Manpreet Singh: As you’ve seen we have Sonu Jaglan with us and he’s a very good player. He’s not starting matches, but he’s getting a chance to play. Right now, it’s time for him to watch and learn from the rest of the players. I feel others should be starting ahead of him at the moment, but Sonu has good qualities and we’ll use those qualities for the team’s benefit. However, both Sonu and Sumit are very good new players.

Q. Now that the Hyderabad leg is over, what has the experience been like?

Manpreet Singh: This is Gujarat Fortunegiants’ third season and we’ve not done anything different or approached anything differently this year. We did do some planning and spoke about our temperament and how our mindset should be.

U.P. Yoddha coach Jasveer Singh after his team’s loss to Gujarat Fortunegiants.

U.P. Yoddha

Q. Coach, what are your thoughts on the match?

Jasveer Singh: At the start our defence played pretty well but their defence was also pretty strong, so we were finding it difficult to score points while raiding. That resulted in the pressure being transferred on our defence.

Q. Back-to-back losses. Any change in strategy going forward?

Jasveer Singh: Yes, we will change our strategy. It’s still early stages in the league so there isn’t that much pressure. But we will definitely change our strategy plus one of our main stars, Rishank Devadiga, will also be joining the team. When our raiders start performing our defenders will also start playing well.

Q. Thoughts on Monu Goyat and Shrikant Jadhav.

Jasveer Singh: I’m sure they will play well soon. They should be playing a bit quicker but I’m sure they will play well in the future.
