The two semi-finals of Pro Kabaddi Season 11 headline the list of top five thrillers from the recently concluded edition. Let’s have a look at the top five thrillers from PKL Season 11.
Haryana Steelers vs UP Yoddhas, Semi-Final 1
Haryana Steelers and UP Yoddhas were involved in an enthralling Semi-Final clash of Pro Kabaddi Season 11 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune. The game was evenly matched in the first few minutes, before the Yoddhas secured a three-point lead. However, the Steelers later bounced back with a 12-11 lead by the end of half-time. Mohammadreza Shadloui and Vinay led the charge for the Steelers, while the likes of Gagan Gowda, Sumit and Bhavani Rajput ensured the Yoddhas stayed within touching distance.
Shivam Patare, Vinay and Shadloui started the second half strongly as the Steelers registered an All-Out on their opponents. The Steelers continued their dominance, even though Bhavani Rajput and Gagan Gowda then helped the Yoddhas reduce the deficit to just a solitary point. In the final few minutes, the Steelers held their nerve to pull off a hard-fought 28-25 win to book their place in back-to-back PKL finals.
Dabang Delhi K.C. vs Patna Pirates, Semi-Final 2
Dabang Delhi K.C. and Patna Pirates produced another thrilling clash when they locked horns in Semi-Final 2 of PKL Season 11 at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Balewadi in Pune. It was neck and neck in the first few minutes, before the Pirates pulled away with a six-point lead. Dabang Delhi K.C. soon closed the gap courtesy of a Super Raid from Mohit. However, the three-time PKL champions soon notched up an All-Out and later managed a commanding 17-11 lead at the end of the first half. For the Pirates, Devank, Ayan Lohchab and Shubham Shinde were the standout performers in the first half.
Later in the second half, Ashu Malik, Mohit and Yogesh stepped up as PKL Season 8 champions scripted a sensational comeback to level the score at 25-25. Dabang Delhi K.C. soon got their first lead of the night as Yogesh tackled Devank on a Do-or-Die raid. However, the Pirates later rode on Ankit's brilliant tackle on Naveen Kumar, followed by Ayan's two-point raid to register a nail-biting 32-28 victory and storm into their fifth PKL Final.
Bengal Warriorz vs Puneri Paltan, Match 23
The Pro Kabaddi Season 11 witnessed a pulsating encounter between Bengal Warriorz and Puneri Paltan in Match 23 at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad. Both teams started cautiously as they took time to get into the rhythm. However, Mohit Goyat soon took charge and gave Puneri Paltan a three-point lead after the early exchanges. As the half wore on, the Warriorz bounced back into the game and marched into the lead courtesy Praveen Thakur and captain Fazel Atrachali. Meanwhile, Akash Shinde and Abinesh Nadarajan scored some crucial points as Puneri Paltan inflicted an All-Out and secured a 5-point lead. While Fazel Atrachali etched his name in history books as he became the first player to reach 500 tackle points in PKL, the Warriorz were still trailing 12-15 by the end of half-time.
Puneri Paltan extended their lead in the second half after they registered another All-Out. However, the Warriorz later rode on Sushil Kambrekar’s raiding masterclass to inflict an All-Out to storm right back into the contest. Sushil continued his impressive performance to rack up a Super 10 as the Warriorz then took a slender 1-point lead. In the final minute, Gaurav Khatri pulled off an outstanding tackle in the final minute to level things up at 32-32 and salvage a tie for the Paltan.
Patna Pirates vs U Mumba, Match 37
Patna Pirates and U Mumba delivered one of the most memorable clashes in Pro Kabaddi Season 11. In Match 37 of PKL Season 11 at the GMCB Indoor Stadium in Gachibowli, Hyderabad, the game was in the balance in the first few minutes, before the Pirates notched up the first All-Out thanks to a two-point raid by Ayan Lohchab. While U Mumba quickly bounced back to level the score at 12-12, Ayan produced a stunning 4-point Super Raid to put the Pirates in the ascendancy. U Mumba later rode on Ajit Chouhan’s back-to-back Super Raids to register a 24-21 lead at the end of the first half.
However, in the second half, Devank pulled off a Super Raid on a Do-or-Die Raid to power the Pirates back into the lead. The Pirates were aiming to hold on to their 40-39 lead in the dying minutes, however, Amirmohammad Zafardanesh’s last-minute tackle guided the Mumboys to a 42-40 victory in Hyderabad. The 19-year-old left-raider Ajit finished the game with an impressive 19 points for U Mumba.
Bengaluru Bulls vs U Mumba, Match 62
Bengaluru Bulls and U Mumba produced an action-packed encounter in Match 62 of Pro Kabaddi Season 11 at the Noida Indoor Stadium. The game was evenly matched in the first few minutes, before Ajit Chouhan eliminated two Bengaluru Bulls players in a Do-or-Die Raid, which gave U Mumba a slender lead. However, the Record-Breaker Pardeep Narwal soon helped the Bulls notch up an All-Out to put them ahead in the contest. The sea-saw battle continued as the Bulls then managed a 21-20 lead by the end of half-time.
The second half also witnessed plenty of back-and-forth action before U Mumba managed to secure a three-point lead courtesy of a Super Raid from Manjeet. Pardeep continued his scintillating form as he completed his Super 10, which kept the Bulls in the game. At the other end, Ajit also bagged his Super 10 to extend U Mumba’s lead to five points. The Bulls stormed right back into the game as Sunny enforced a Super Tackle on Manjeet and later levelled the score with under four minutes remaining. With 30 seconds left on the clock, Parvesh Bhainswal delivered a clutch Super Tackle that put U Mumba in the lead by two points. Parvesh’s Super Tackle guided U Mumba to a nail-biting 38-37 win in Noida.
