Puneri Paltan are a side which has always banked on a good overall team composition over star names around which to build the team. Their players always manage to develop a good all-round ability which keeps the unit strong overall and less dependent on any one player.

In Season 5, the team reached the Eliminator but unfortunately couldn’t make it past Pardeep Narwal’s Patna Pirates. However, they had the most effective defence of the season, scoring 271 Tackle Points at an average of 11.29 Tackle Points per game. Being led by their most successful defender from last season, Girish Maruti Ernak, the Paltan will be looking to make their defence even tighter this season to complement their already impressive raiding line up comprising Nitin Tomar, Deepak Kumar Dahiya and Rajesh Mondal.

Team Highlights

Good overall balance

Puneri Paltan have a number of players whose utility goes beyond their primary roles. Raiders such as Nitin Tomar and Rajesh Mondal are equipped to back up defence when the entire team is required for the effort and Corner Sandeep Narwal is adept at raiding when the opposition is down to fewer than 3 men on the mat. Thus, the overall team composition looks quite impressive and has the ability to shine in any situation.

Strong leaders

Puneri Paltan has a number of strong leaders such as Nitin Tomar, who captained U.P. Yoddha in Season 5, Sandeep Narwal and Rajesh Mondal, who have tasted VIVO Pro Kabaddi success and can be able mentors and even Deepak Kumar Dahiya who has bundles of experience under his belt. This puts the team in a good position since the juniors will always have able guidance and the captain will never be short of support while making decisions.
