The Pro Kabaddi League Season 12 heats up with Match 17, where two struggling giants — Patna Pirates and Bengaluru Bulls — lock horns at the Vishwanadh Sports Club, Vizag. Both teams are yet to register a win this season, and tonight’s clash offers a golden chance to break the deadlock.
Patna Pirates
Bengaluru Bulls
➢ Two teams still searching for their first win of PKL 12
➢ The winner of this clash will finally open their account this season
➢ Mighty Maninder Singh is back to form with a Super 10 in the last match
➢ Support raiders Ayan and Sudhakar are also impressive for the Pirates
➢ Both sides are struggling defensively – among the worst tackle units this season
➢ Akash Shinde needs to step up for the Bulls as Alireza and Aashish continue to perform
This clash is crucial for both sides, who remain winless in PKL 12. Patna Pirates have lost both their matches so far by narrow margins of just three points, while the Bulls have slumped to three straight defeats. Patna’s defence has been their weak link, averaging the fewest tackle points per game, while Bengaluru have conceded six all-outs – the most in the league. Both sides need their defensive units to step up if they want to turn their campaigns around.
Patna Pirates can take confidence from Maninder Singh’s return to form. The veteran raider scored a brilliant Super 10 in their last match, including seven bonus points, and almost staged a comeback on his own against Jaipur. With youngsters Ayan and Sudhakar providing steady support, Patna’s raiding unit is looking solid – but the defenders must back them up if they are to notch their first victory.
The Bulls’ season so far has been defined by inconsistency. Akash Shinde started brightly with a Super 10 in the opener but has since struggled, managing just one raid point in his last game. His dip in bonus-point situations is particularly concerning, with his strike rate dropping to 25% from the usual 67%. On the other hand, Alireza Mirzaian and Aashish Malik have been reliable, keeping their strike rates near 60%. The Bulls will hope their captain Ankush, who had a High 5 in the first game but none since, can rediscover form and inspire a defensive turnaround.
The Pirates have been competitive but unlucky, losing both games by slender margins. Their raiders average nearly 25 raid points per game – third-best in the league – but defensive lapses have hurt them. With Maninder firing again, they’ll be keen to turn performances into wins.
Bengaluru’s season began with a narrow tie-breaker defeat but has since spiraled, with consecutive losses. Akash Shinde and Ankush starred in the opener but have gone quiet since, leaving Alireza and Aashish to shoulder much of the load. The Bulls are desperate to avoid a fourth straight loss.
