An action-packed opening day of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 12 Player Auction witnessed the players from Categories A and B going under the hammer.
Iranian all-rounder Mohammadreza Shadloui became the first-ever player in PKL history to breach the 2-crore mark for three consecutive seasons on Day 1 of the Season 12 auction.
Showstopper Shadloui, who was the first player that went under the hammer, was involved in an intense bidding war between Telugu Titans, Bengaluru Bulls and Patna Pirates, before Gujarat Giants acquired last season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) for a whopping INR 2.23 crore.
Pro Kabaddi Season 11’s standout raider Devank Dalal was the second most expensive player of the night after Bengal Warriorz signed him with a massive bid of INR 2.205 crore.
Star raider Ashu Malik drew the next biggest bid of INR 1.90 crore after Telugu Titans, Puneri Paltan and Bengal Warriorz battled for his services, before Dabang Delhi K.C. used their Final Bid Match (FBM) card to retain him for two seasons.
Defending champions Haryana Steelers may have momentarily thought they had got Ankit Jaglan for INR 1.573 crore after a long bidding war in the Category B list, but Patna Pirates retained him exercising their FBM option for one season.
Raid Machine Arjun Deshwal was the third most expensive raider on Day 1 of the PKL Season 12 auction as he moved to Tamil Thalaivas for INR 1.405 crore. Jaipur Pink Panthers opted out from using their FBM card for their former captain.
Yogesh Dahiya earlier became the most expensive Indian defender in PKL history after Bengaluru Bulls acquired his services for INR 1.125 crore.
Among other players from Category B, raider Naveen Kumar was snapped up by Haryana Steelers for INR 1.20 crore, UP Yoddhas signed raider Guman Singh for INR 1.073 crore, while Nitin Kumar Dhankhar joined Jaipur Pink Panthers for INR 1.002 crore.
Meanwhile, right cover Deepak Singh was sold to Patna Pirates for INR 86 lakh after the three-time champions used their FBM card to retain him for two seasons.
Shubham Shinde found a new team as the right corner joined Telugu Titans for INR 80 lakh, while Sanjay Krishan Dhull was roped in by Bengaluru Bulls for INR 60 lakh among other defenders from Category A, .
Hi-Flyer Pawan Sehrawat was acquired by Tamil Thalaivas for INR 59.50 lakh after a late bidding war, while all-rounder Bharat Hooda was bought by Telugu Titans for INR 81 lakh.
On the other hand, Telugu Titans used their FBM option to retain seasoned all-rounder Vijay Malik for one season for INR 51.50 lakh.
Fazel Atrachali, the most successful defender in Pro Kabaddi history, was sold from Category A to Dabang Delhi K.C. for INR 30 lakh, while veteran raider Maninder Singh was snapped up by Patna Pirates for INR 20 lakh.
Record-breaker Pardeep Narwal and Sahil Gulia were some of the top names who went unsold on the opening day of the PKL Season 12 Player Auction.
