Week 2 of VIVO Pro Kabaddi Season 7 featured a multitude of stellar performances from some of the biggest names in the sport and also featured some grandstand finishes that went right down to the wire. While there were plenty of moments to choose from in the past week in Mumbai, here are the five moments that stood out the most:

1. Chaudhari clocks 900 points in VIVO Pro Kabaddi

In the match between Tamil Thalaivas and Patna Pirates, ‘Showman’ Rahul Chaudhari added another chapter to his glorious VIVO Pro Kabaddi career as he became the first man to score 900 points in league history, doing so with a touch point on Hadi Oshtorak. Chaudhari has been the league’s trendsetter for scoring milestones since its maiden campaign and could soon become the first man in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history to break the 1000-point barrier.

2. Sandeep Dhull’s stunning performances

Jaipur Pink PanthersSandeep Dhull had a week to remember as the Left Corner scored High 5s in successive games during victories over Bengal Warriors and Haryana Steelers. Dhull scored, a staggering, 14 tackle points in those two encounters while boasting of an impressive tackle strike rate of 70%. He was particularly outstanding in his team’s thrilling 27-25 win against Bengal Warriors, where he finished as his team’s top-scorer with eight points.

3. Maninder Singh’s magical display against Puneri Paltan

Against Puneri Paltan, Bengal Warriors skipper Maninder Singh delivered a magnificent performance, scoring 14 raid points in just 16 raid attempts, leading his team to a comfortable 43-23 victory. Maninder’s 14 points, which included two Super Raids, is the joint second-best individual performance of the season, behind Suraj Desai’s 18 and alongside Naveen Kumar’s 14. What adds to Maninder’s spectacular performance is the fact that the Bengal Warriors captain was tackled only once in his 16 raid attempts.

4. Bengaluru Bulls become third team to 50 wins

Having trailed for majority of the second half against U Mumba, Bengaluru Bulls, in a style that typified their title winning campaign, engineered a late blitz, inspired by Pawan ‘Hi-Flyer’ Sehrawat to beat the home side by a scoreline of 30-26 and win their second game of the campaign. That win was also their 50th in VIVO Pro Kabaddi history, joining three-time champions Patna Pirates and Season 2 winners U Mumba as the only teams to have achieved the feat. Season 1 champions Jaipur Pink Panthers currently sit on 49 wins.

5. Surinder Singh’s stunning four-point raid

Trailing by eight points, Gujarat Fortunegiants embarked on a brilliant run that saw them score five unanswered points to reduce U Mumba to just two men. Some excellent work from U Mumba skipper Fazel ‘Sultan’ Atrachali and Young Chang Ko helped curb the opponent’s run and revive Cover defender Surinder Singh. With no raiders on the mat, Surinder went in for a raid which prompted the Gujarat Fortunegiants defence to play ahead of the baulk line. Unfazed, Surinder tried a running hand touch but was met by four Gujarat Fortunegiants defenders in the centre of the mat. However, the defender stretched his leg across the midline to earn four points for his side. That raid helped U Mumba inflict a second All-Out not soon after and take a substantial lead in the contest.
