The last leg of vivo Pro Kabaddi Season 7’s league stage, which took place at the Shaheed Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex in Greater Noida, saw some intense action as the final spots in the playoffs got filled. The week saw a few records being set, while some existing ones being broken. Here we look at the highlights from the leg.
1. Pardeep Narwal continues to set records
‘Record-Breaker’ Pardeep Narwal’s season came to an end on a high as he equaled his personal record of 34 raid points in a single match in Patna Pirates’ final match of the campaign against Bengal Warriors. As Pardeep went into the match on the back of 268 raid points from his previous games, his performance meant that he crossed the 300-raid point mark in a season yet again and became the first player in vivo Pro Kabaddi history to achieve this feat twice.
2. Record point fest in Patna Pirates’ final Season 7 match
The same match also saw another record tumble with the 69-41 scoreline meaning that the encounter became the game which saw the most points being scored overall. The previous record of 103 points was set in the match between Puneri Paltan and Telugu Titans in the previous leg. The match between Patna Pirates and Bengal Warriors saw three Super 10s and one High 5 being scored.
3. U Mumba’s Corners keep the defensive wall strong
‘Sultan’ Fazel Atrachali became the first overseas player to score 300 tackle points in vivo Pro Kabaddi. The same game also saw his fellow Corner Sandeep Narwal cross the 300-tackle points mark and record a High 5. The two Corners now have a combined 618 tackle points between them.
4. Naveen Kumar passes the ‘Record-Breaker’
With a 19th Super 10 on the trot in his team’s final league stage match against U Mumba, Naveen Kumar surpassed another Pardeep record to become the raider with the most Super 10s in a single season (20). Naveen has scored a Super 10 in every single Season 7 appearance for Dabang Delhi K.C. barring Match 9. With the team playing at least another match this season, Naveen could well be seen extending his record in the coming week.
5. Pawan Sehrawat’s first triple century
Season 6 MVP ‘Hi-Flyer’ Pawan Sehrawat has carried his fine form into Season 7 as well and is currently the highest scoring raider of the campaign His strong performance this season saw him overtake his previous year’s tally of 271 raid points with ease and he now sits above the 300-raid point mark, making him only the second raider after Pardeep to cross that barrier.
