No one knows how a  particular event can change the face of a sport in India better than legendary 1983 World Cup winning captain, Kapil Dev. One of the premier all-rounders and one of India's cricketing icons, Kapil Dev interacted with the Puneri Paltan players before their third home encounter. The cricketing legend shared his thoughts on sportsmanship and team spirit with the boys at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.

Speaking with the team, the legendary Kapil Dev said, "As a team, it is important to keep your spirits high even when you are losing. That is when you need to play like a team the most. A team eats together, plays together and celebrates together. What matters is to give your best and perform better than your ability. It doesn't matter if the other team wins. If you have given better than your best, you are the real winner."

Kapi Dev quoted Sri Lanka's recent test match win against India. He said, "Sri Lanka didn't stop believing in their ability despite being outplayed for most of the game. Their belief in themselves won them the game in the end."

In a team, its not the individuals that matter. What matters is the commitment. A team with individuals who are committed to the team and the sport is better than one with superstars who are not committed at all. I strongly believe that your team, Puneri Paltan, are all very talented and hard working players and I wish them all the best for the forthcoming matches," added Kapil.

Having spent a good twenty minutes with the legendary sportsman, the Puneri Paltan team seemed fully charged and up for the challenge against the Patna Pirates.
